Queens Hit The Small Screen

Perth’s amateur drag queens will be fighting for top place in a new televised talent contest that will test three local queens on more than their make-up skills.

The first heat of Drag Till Death Do Us Part begins tonight, temporarily replacing the Party Proud with Panache (PPP) program.

Judge Ryan Schulz said this was the first television-based drag contest in Perth.

‘It will be solely judged on talent and the challenges that are provided each week,’ Schulz said.

‘So it’s really looking at talent and what they can bring to the competition rather than being a scene queen, so to speak.’

Well known drag queen Val Nourished (pictured) will be the resident judge for the six-week contest with a new guest judge planned for each week.

As for the challenges, Schulz couldn’t give away any clues but said the contestants were going to be things never done in Perth before.

‘I would say the girls that are competing are not only going to be miming each week,’ Schulz said.

‘This will be their chance to become a ‘perthonality’ [sic] in the industry.

‘It could be a really good launch pad, a really good push for them.’

The winner will become the new co-host on Party Proud with Panache and receive a new wardrobe from Boutique 88.
