SceneOUT #91

Looking for a view to a thrill? Well, it seems if you have the right job, any opportunity will present itself – such as being able to watch the shenanigans happening across the railway line at a certain seemingly secluded little hotspot… which apparently was getting mighty hot. Yes, it’d then be embarrassing if you were the one doing the shenanigans and then get to visit the person who had the right job, and get an education in how one person’s ‘secluded’ is another’s ‘perfect view from the office window’. Oh to have been a fly on that bank manager’s wall during that meeting. The only thing mOther wants to know is why the shenaniganista was seeing their bank manager? Investing in a new beard (hedge fund?) perhaps?!

I wanna be a scene queen… I wanna be a scene queen… I wanna be a scene queen, like you! Yeah? Well get in line sweetheart, because there’s one forming around the block as Connections Nightclub launch Scene Queen. Yes, get that big hair bigger as CNC put an open (cattle) call for the biggest scene queen alive. What do you have to do? Easy – get your (big) ass down to Connections, be one of the first five queens to sign up before 11pm, be sure to have ALL your friends there (www.rentacrowd.org) and then get ready to shake your groove thing when they unleash you on the stage from 11.30pm onwards. There will be tears, there will tantrums, there will be chaos, there will be horror and – very rarely, but the kinda rarity you have to have to appreciate how rare it is – there will be moments of sheer hilarity and talent that you will either cack yourself or whoop with delight… or do both.. Best part? The crowd get to decide who wins the $100 hot cash at the end. It happens every Friday and is hosted by Sandy Beaches, Val-Uptuous and Delta Force.

Here’s one not to miss! The Freemasons and special guest vocalist Katherine Ellis are flying in after their huge post Mardi Gras high and landing at The Court Hotel on Friday March 13 in The Overflow area. On the line up are DJs Seb Sharp and one hundred hits per minute DJ Jesse James plus those icons of ingenuity, those singers of sass, the indisputable queens of the scene Brash and Sassy. It’s going to be one mega night so get ready to party hard and properly as the beats rain from the sky – literally – in what promises to be an evening of pure entertainment.

Sleep. It’s such a delicious thing. Such a tantalising morsel of warmth and cosiness. Such a snug bug in a rug in a big warm hug kinda thing. What makes sleep even better is the fact that you can wear pyjamas during it. I love pyjamas. They’re so damn cute. Not nearly as exciting as not wearing pyjamas to bed, true, but pyjamas make bed time all that extra special. So get ready to show off your Pyjamas when Connections presents the very aptly titled Big Gay Pyjama Party, a pyjama party that not only promises to be big but very gay also. Entry on the night is $10 if you wear your PJs with $250 hot cash up for grabs for whoever can rock it out in their pyjamas the most.

ZOO is where it’s at with Perth’s underground proving it is still alive, still kicking and still bringing it… whatever that ‘it’ is for the week. Get ready to prove your groove thing as a veritable treasure trove of kinks unleash themselves upon you.

Easter is fast approaching. Rumour has it Connections will be hosting a men only AND a women only night during this time. Yes, you heard it here first!

In the meantime, remember little one that when it comes to dressing up – if it hurts, then it works!
