Pride Festival Update: International Film Festival

There is still time to catch a few films as part of the Pride International Film Festival, including Prada Handbag and Nina’s Heavenly Delights. Prada Handbag is an Australian comedy about a young bald woman who while working at a drag queen nightclub becomes a drag performer with the help of her gay male friend. On October 17, Nina’s Heavenly Delights will be showing at 7pm. This film focuses on Nina Shah, a young Scottish woman who is forced to return to Glasgow and run the family owned Curry House after the death of her father. It follows her adventures in trying to win both the ‘Best of the West’ curry competition and the heart of the charismatic Nina. Director Pratibha Parmar describes the film as a romantic comedy with a touch of magical realism and says she wanted it to reflect a spirit of fun using human emotions in a world full of color, music and sumptuous food. Both sessions are showing at Cinema Paridiso, Northbridge and tickets are $15 or $12.50 for concession and Pride members.
