Why do you present All Things Queer?

Timbee: I do this show because I just enjoy the idea of radio, I think there’s a good link between DJing and radio. Dean: It’s an informative show that gets information out to the people. Paul: Radio’s interesting there’s always something new you can learn. Tim Daly: I like to put something back into the gay community, which is creative; it isn’t drag or theatre, but I have a passion for radio and I love working with my friends. Serika: I do the show because let’s be completely obvious – we can’t have a show hosted only by boys. We learn this from each other.

What’s been the highlight of being on the show?

Serika: Finding out that I was going to be a presenter on the show was pretty good. Tim Daly: For me the highlight has been the Pride Parade. Paul: the very first program three years ago. Dean: My favourite moment was an inapropriate comment from BarbieQ Timbee: The first time Narelda Jacobs came on the show. Tim Daly: I love the collaborations that we have.

Do you hang out together when you’re not on the show?

Tim Daly: All the time Paul: We all hate each other it’s just a front we put on. Serika: Every time I got to The Court I run up to Timbee in DJ booth and give him a big hug, then I go back to my corner with all the lesbians and deny that I just hugged a gay man. Tim Daly: we have what we call family dinner each week where we catch up, we’ve got each others back. Serika: I’ve never heard of this family dinner? Tim Daly: Awkward.

How would you describe what it’s like in the studio?

Paul: Intimate Tim Daly: It’s hectic and fast paced. Timbee: It’s very fast paced. When I listen back to the podcast and compare it to other shows on RTRFM I always feel there is something chaotic in what we offer. It’s always at about 2minutes to 11pm that we realise ever week that we’re not going to fit every thing in.

All Things Queer airs on RTRFM 92.1 at 10pm on Monday Nights. RTRFM’s dance music fundraiser Seriously Sound System is on Saturday December 15 in the Urban Orchard.

Declaration: OUTinPerth editor Graeme Watson is also a volunteer presenter at RTRFM and is a former employee of Arts Radio Ltd – the company that operates the station.
