Miss WA Ink Announced

Wa Ink (2)

A 22 year old New Zealander by the name of Sara Dahm has taken the title for Miss Ink WA this year. Although winning the title was met with huge support from family and friends, Dahm explains that she wasn’t expecting to win, “most definitely not! All the girls were beautiful with some beautiful artwork so it was stiff competition”.

Competitions like Miss Ink WA assist in reducing stigma surrounding women with tattoos, Dahm explained how a societal shift means tattoos are becoming more accepted, “It’s helping to show the world that we’re not just tattooed rif raf, there are a lot of professional woman with tattoos as well as mums, its across the board”.

Previously employed at The Court Hotel, Dahm encourages ladies with tattoos to enter the 2014 competition, “myself not being covered in tattoos shows that anyone can do it because it’s ‘quality not quantity’ you have nothing to lose!”

Dahm stayed humble about her win, attributing it to a hard working team “my make up was done perfectly by Amiee Smart at Allure make up, my hair was pin curled by Samantha McCaskie hair design and most importantly I have some amazing artwork on my body thanks to Jasmine Austin at Adorned Empire and others.”

Following her win Dahm hopes to judge next year’s competition.
