‘Kaleidoscope’, written by Act and ‘Black & Gold’ singer Sam Sparro, celebrates the global movement of gender and sexual diversity as more young people embrace their differences and reject traditional understandings of self.

Act, who identifies as genderfluid, says they love creating stories that push limits.

“Having identified as a gay man most of my adult life, the last few years I have realised that both my sexuality and gender are fluid,” Act says.

“That has been so liberating for me because I never fit into the binary of man/woman or gay/straight anyway.”

Act says they are more comfortable existing in the grey area.

“I encourage anyone who feels like the status quo doesn’t represent them to join me. You may feel broken or separate but when you look through a kaleidoscope suddenly all of those broken bits and pieces create a beautiful image.”

The digital release will feature a number of variants of the track, including a remix from the UK’s Jodie Harsh – who is heading to Connections Nightclub on March 6th.

Grab a copy of Courtney Act’s Kaleidoscope – the official anthem of Sydney’s Mardi Gras – on Monday February 29th.
