“This a really important weekend, not only is it a long weekend but also the grand finals of the footy. So I want everyone in Australia to enjoy this weekend with their families and get out in the sun and next week we can get back to it. Let’s get it done.” Thorpe said in a new video from the Equality campaign.

Thorpe has been featured in the ‘Yes’ campaigns TV advertisements that have run since the start of the campaign, but the new video shows him posting his own survey form back the the government.

Anna Brown from the Equality Campaign called on supporters to reach out to each other over the weekend.

“The survey is asking about the lives and dignity of real people and over the last few weeks there have undoubtedly been times that have been stressful for LGBTI people as well as their parents, family members and friends.

“We ask everyone to take the opportunity over the long weekend to reach out to each other and check how everyone is feeling. No one should feel that they have to go through this national conversation about being treated equally on their own.

“Marriage equality is about respect and dignity for every Australian and we will continue to run a respectful and positive campaign every day of this campaign.

“We urge all Australians to get out and vote YES for a fairer and more inclusive nation where everyone is treated equally before the law. This is about our friends, family members, neighbours and teammates who just want to be afforded the same dignity so that they can get on with their lives,” Brown said.
