‘Invisible Boys’ producer Dr Tania Chambers among nominees for West Australian of the Year

Dr Tania Chambers, the film and television producer who brought the Western Australian LGBTIQA+ story Invisible Boys to the screen, is one of the nominees for the 2026 Western Australian of the Year Awards.

Dr Chambers is just one of many prominent Western Australians whose work and contributions to society have been recognised.

he is nominated for the Crown Arts and Culture Award, which also places her in the running to be named Western Australian of the Year.

A highly respected leader in Australia’s screen and creative industries, Chambers’ career spans more than 40 years across law, screen‑agency leadership, production and cultural governance. She set up her own production company, Feisty Dame Productions, after serving as CEO of both Screenwest and Screen NSW.

Her company has created feature films, television series and documentaries including How to Please a Woman, Invisible Boys and Kill Me Three Times.

Also nominated in the same category are acclaimed musician Lucky Oceans and respected arts leader Dr Carolyn Chard, who has been the Executive Director of West Australian Opera since 2010.

The awards feature seven categories including youth, sport, professions, community, arts and Aboriginal. See all the 2026 finalists.

The awards will be announced on Thursday 28 May at a gala event at Crown Perth.
