As part of Slate’s video series “Ask a Homo”, June Thomas, editor of ‘Outward’, answers a number of questions about gay bar etiquette. In particular is the issue of straight people attending gay bars. Thomas suggests that you should avoid bars that don’t directly fit your demographic, including gay men visiting lesbian bars. Is her advice sensible for maintaining safe queer spaces or needlessly exclusionary?
