Trans icon Holly Woodlawn dies at 69

Transgender icon Holly Woodlawn has passed away at the age of 69.

Known for her extensive work with Andy Warhol, Holly was one of the earliest faces of transgender visibility on the world stage.

Famous for her collaborations with Andy Warhol – such as ‘Women In Revolt’ and ‘Trash’ – Woodlawn was perhaps best known as the figure who inspired Lou Reed’s ‘Take a Walk On The Wild Side’.

Ms Woodlawn’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. She passed in a hospice in West Hollywood.
